The 2020 DFFL Awards
Here are the results of the annual DFFL News Award Winners for 2020.
Most Valuable Player – Patrick
Mahomes (Cosa Nostra) The #12th overall selection of the draft wins his second MVP award in three
seasons with 151 fantasy points from 3815 passing yards and 31 TD passes. Runner up was
Heinekins QB Kyler Murray who was a shoo-in for MVP until
a late season shoulder injury sapped some of his effectiveness running the football. Nonetheless Murray – the 41st
player selected - finished with 141 points in his 12 starts with 23 TD’s and 2987 passing yards, plus an additional
665 rushing yards and 10 rushing TD’s. Third place goes to Lucky 7’s
QB Russell Wilson – who put up 126 points in his 12 appearances.
Mahomes becomes the seventh player to win multiple DFFL MVP awards, joining Warren Moon, Steve Young, Priest Holmes, Peyton
Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Brees
Least Valuable Player – Tyler
Higbee (Sacks in the City) and it wasn’treally even that close as the Rams TE made a total of 8 fantasy
starts for the Sacks and put up these numbers: 26 targets, 19 receptions, 222 yards and 0 touchdowns. A 2 point conversion
in week 3 was the only fantasy contribution that Higbee made. Others up for consideration included Kyle Rudolph (F T C) who in 6 starts managed a grand total of 10 receptions from 14 targets for 123
yards and 1 TD = 6 points
Rookie of the Year – James
Robinson (Spartans) was the best of a decent rookie class with 62 in 10 fantasy starts from 802 yards and
8 total TD’s – Also receiving consideration were Lucky 7’s phenom
Justin Jefferson with 52 points in 10 starts and Mean Machines/Caged Orange RB Antonio Gibson with 55 points in 6 starts, most of them coming
after being moved in a mid-season trade to the Orange
Late Round Steal – No Winner – No one
selected in the later rounds had much of any impact
First Round Draft Bricks – As has become the norm with this
award, it’s become easier to let you know who didn’t suck during the year, although this year the rate of return
actually improved as only about half of this years picks under achieved.

Free Agent pick up of the Year – James Robinson (Spartans) The Jaguar Rookie RB was the best of a mostly pedestrian group of waiver
wire pick-ups this year. Acquired prior to week 3, Robinson produced 62 fantasy points in his 10 starts after being picked
up and was a big factor in keeping the Spartans in the playoff race. The only other player I could find that had even a modest
impact was probably F T C RB Mike
Davis with 32 points over his 9 starts after joining the club in week #3
Sentimental Value Award –
The Chuck Evans Award is given annually to the player(s) who are drafted by a DFFL
team, spend the entire year on the roster, but never make it into the starting lineup. This year’s prize is won by Adrian Peterson (Spartans)
Blindfold Award – This award is given to the player who makes
the most of their single fantasy start. In one of the most ordinary Blindfold performances in recent memory Lucky 7’s QB Nick Foles 23 of 39 198
Yds, 1 Passing TD, 1 INT and 1 rushing TD = 8 points was the single best performance.
Todd Collins Award - This award was created in 2010 to honor the player
who has the worst fantasy performance in their single start. Joshua Kelley (Caged Orange) and Harrison Bryant (‘merica’s
Team) share the honors as both players produced a stat line of 1 lost fumble – good for negative
1 fantasy points in their only start
Award for the Most Awards Award - This award is given annually to
the teams who appear most often in the "Bogus Move of the Week" column.
There
were a total of 32 occasions this season in which a team was referenced in the BMOTW column during the DFFL's regular season.
Due to the extraordinary circumstances surrounding this season Jerk Store is
the ceremonial winner of the award, after being nominated 7 times – most of which came following his unprovoked outburst
in week #9. In the actual BMOTW competition Mean Machines and ‘merica’s Team were this year’s winners by appearing in Bogus Move a total of 4 times throughout the
season
Second place was a four-way tie between Cosa Nostra, Spartans, Caged Orange, F T C
and Sacks in the City all with 3 mentions each.
The Lucky 7’s finished with 2 mentions, and the Gamblers with one – which mean that both the Cheeseheads
from Hell and the Heinekins managed to make it through
the year without having any Bogus Moves.
