2022 DFFL Award Winners
Most Valuable Player - Patrick Mahomes (Gamblers) The 30th player selected and 3rd QB taken overall Mahomes didn’t miss a beat after scoring
155 Fantasy Points from 4160 passing yards, 33 TD’s and 2 rushing scores, as Mahomes scored at least 6 fantasy points
every week and hit double digits 7 times during the season. Finishing a close second was Jalen Hurts (Caged Orange) selected 58th overall Hurts threw for 22 TD’s and
3157 passing yards, and also ran for 686 yards and scored 10 rushing Touchdowns himself, as he accounted for 27% of the Orange’s
total point production. This is Mahomes third MVP award, as he continues his tradition of winning MVP honors in even
numbered years – having previously won in 2018 and 2022
Least Valuable Player - Tyler Higbee (Gamblers)
this one’s easy. Acquired in week #3 Higbee started 11 games for the Gamblers
and logged these numbers: 61 targets, 40 receptions – 345 yards 0 Touchdowns = 0 regular season fantasy points.
To make matters worse, Higbee finally scored a TD during the Gamblers
Playoff bye week, was then dropped for week #15 – where he went off for 9 catches, 94 yards – 2 TD’s. He
was then re-acquired during Grand Final week – where his stat line
was: 3 catches, 11 yards = 0 points). Truly a deserving selection. Runner Up - JuJu Smith-Schuester (The Jerk Meister/Cosa Nostra) Schuester managed to turn
81 targets and 62 receptions into only 1 fantasy point for The Jerk Meister and Cosa Nostra
over 9 starts between the two clubs
Rookie of the Year - Kenneth Walker (Cosa Nostra) selected with pick #119, the wait was worth it –
after being a bit player in the first 5 weeks of the year Walker took the lead role in week 6 and never looked back.
504 rushing yards and 8 TD’s as a starter good for 51 fantasy points. Others receiving consideration were RB Brian Robinson (Spartans) RB Dameon Pierce (Caged Orange) and WR Christian Watson (Cheeseheads from Hell / ‘merica’s Team)
Late round draft steal - No winner
Free Agent pick up of the Year - Jamaal Williams (F
T C) acquired after week #1 – Williams netted 46 fantasy points in his 9 starts for the Frogs
Blindfold Award - Given annually to the player with the best performance in their single start.- Justin Fields (Gamblers) Fields was more than adequate in his single start
in week #8 with a rushing TD, and 2 Passing scores – good for 12 fantasy points in his only appearance
First Round Review - For one of the rare times in our league's history nearly all of the first round
selctions stayed healthy and produced at levels worthy of their draft position.

Todd Collins Award - Given annually to the player with the worst performance in their single start.- Matt Ryan (Heienkins) Started in week #2 Ryan put up by far the worst stat
line of the season by going 16 of 30 for 195 yards 0, TD’s and 3 INT’s – good for -3 points in his single
start. I’m still checking, but this may be the worst performance by a Collins Award winner since Todd Collins
himself in 2010 – which was the inspiration for this award in the first place.
Award for the Most Awards Award - This award is given annually to the teams who appear most often in the "Bogus Move of the Week" column.
There were a total of 28 occasions in which a team
was referenced in the BMOTW column during the DFFL's 14 week regular season. This is up from 21 references a year ago.
Congratulations go to the Mandalorians –
who along with the Jerk Meisters had jumped out to an early lead,
only to have the field slowly creep back into contention, but with the title slipping away in the final weeks of the regular
season, the Mandalorians truly displayed the heart of a champion
and wrapped up the AFTMAA with 2 BMOTW nominations in the final 3 weeks to secure the top spot with 6 mentions overall.
The Jerk Meister finished a valiant second with 5 mentions. The Spartans, Caged Orange
and Sacks in the City each finished with 3 mentions, while Mean Machines, Cosa Nostra
and F T C each picked up 2 honors. The Gamblers finished with 1 BMOTW in 2022, which means ‘merica’s
Team and the Heinekins end the year without doing
anything Bogus.
